5,0 sur 5 étoiles Great game sure to provide hours of fun
Avis laissé au Royaume-Uni le 17 novembre 2012
This game is a much better addition to the franchise than any of the awful movies that have been released after the first Predator movie.

It is easy enough to pick up and play, yet challenging enough to keep you entertained for hours. NOT days though, after all it is on a PSP.

My only criticism is that the shoulder mounted weapon is quite difficult to aim when there are lots of aliens around which is frustrating and inaccurate as this weapon should be the most deadly in the Predators arsenal.

3,0 sur 5 étoiles An all-round average game
Avis laissé au Royaume-Uni le 29 avril 2016
This game is set during the events of the movie of the same name (Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem). Fortunately, it concentrates on perhaps on the only good aspect of that film - Wolf (the Predator protagonist), who is the ultimate badass. Thanks to this it doesn't have the terrible acting, teenage drama or any other such horrible aspects of the movie. In the game we play as Wolf, who is tasked with eradicating the Xenomorphs loose on Earth and destroying all evidence of Yautja presence in the area. The gameplay boils down to a third person shooter with some melee combat. Your main objective varies with each level, though it is usually about progressing further towards the nest and removing pieces of Predator tech on the way, with bonus honour points for killing Aliens, dissolving facehugger husks and ensuring the survival of unarmed humans.

Tools at Wolf's disposal include his wristblades, shoulder cannons, the spear, the shuriken, the throwing disc, and the powerful hand cannon. It is a shame that the whip he used in the film is absent from the game's arsenal, but the stuff available is pretty cool on its own and each of these weapons can be upgraded by earning more honour points. You can also use the Predator's iconic vision modes (thermal for humans, another one for aliens, and the third for technology) as well as his cloak mode to conceal yourself from armed humans. It is basically a competent PSP shooter, which shouldn't come as a surprise considering that it was developed by Rebellion - the studio that made Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron.

However, the combat is definitely too easy and becomes a cakewalk once the hand cannon is unlocked near the end of the game. Part of the appeal of playing as the Predator in Rebellion's other AvP titles was the fact that he was quite overpowered, but here it is taken too far and there is no Alien or marine campaign to balance it out. The graphics are ok (Wolf looks great and the aliens are well animated, but the environments could use some more detail and better textures) plus the frame rate takes a hit during some of the later levels when you're fighting Predaliens. There's also a shortage of story, making it feel as though you're just walking from one objective to another. A minor annoyance is the slightly bugged Alien attack that is supposed to trigger a QTE, but often doesn't work properly.

Overall, it's just an all-round average game that takes around 6 hours to fully complete (there is horde mode multiplayer too). If you love this franchise then you may enjoy AvP:R on the PSP a bit and it's a must-have for Predator fans as it is one of the few games out there that let you play as a Yautja, but if you're not really interested in the series (or if you hate Xenomorphs being treated like cannon fodder) then you should probably skip this one.
