STATUS UPDATES

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.20 update, we announced a feature to share status updates to Instagram. This feature was designed to enhance media sharing for users by allowing them to easily cross-post their WhatsApp status updates directly to their Instagram Stories. Although this feature is still under development on WhatsApp beta for Android, it seems that WhatsApp is now in the process of bringing the same cross-posting experience to the iOS app as well, as discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.8.10.72 update from the TestFlight app.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is actively improving its sharing feature to include compatibility with Instagram, set to be released in a future update. Since this feature is optional, users will need to enable this cross-posting option if they wish to share their status updates to Instagram after posting them on WhatsApp, as it is initially inactive. It is important to note that users will be able to disable the new cross-posting experience with Instagram at any time after their manual activation, and they can manage who can see the content they share to Instagram directly within their Instagram story audience settings.

We believe that this integration will enhance user convenience, enabling users to quickly share their moments with their contacts list on WhatsApp and followers on Instagram, without the need for manual reposting. By facilitating direct sharing of WhatsApp status updates to Instagram, this feature will enhance the process of updating status across multiple platforms. Rather than crafting and posting separate updates on WhatsApp and Instagram, users will be able to accomplish this task in a single step.

A feature to share status updates to Instagram is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. As always, we will keep providing updates on any further developments regarding this feature until its release.
